10.06.2021 - BREAKING NEWS: Facemask not mandatory from Monday, and bars etc. can stay open until 24

The politicians have spent the night negotiating the next steps in the phasing out of the current restrictions.


The good news is that most restrictions will be removed or eased significantly during the summer, and some already from tomorrow!


Bullets:

  1. The use of facemasks will no longer be mandatory, with the exception of when you're standing up in the public transport, from Monday.

  2. Bars, restaurants etc. can stay open until 24 from tomorrow, Friday. They are also allowed to sell alcohol until 24. The opening hours will later in the summer be extended until 02, before disappearing completely in September.

  3. The mandatory use of the corona passport will gradually be removed throughout the summer.

  4. 25.000 spectators will be allowed to watch the matches in Parken during the European Championships in football.

  5. The question of tourism will be cleared no later than the 16th of June.

  6. Nightlife can reopen from the 1st of September, with the use of the corona passport.

  7. Dates to be aware of are tomorrow, the 14th of June, the 16th of June, the 1st of July, 15th of July, 1st of August, 1st of September and the 1st of October.

The details of the phasing out of the current restrictions


Underneath you can see the different dates that are in play for various removals of the current restrictions.


Three matters are not linked to dates, but will still enter into effect:

  • The number of spectators allowed to the upcoming matches in Parken at the European Championships in football will be lifted from 15.900 to 25.000.

  • The question of entry into Denmark for tourists has to be cleared by the 16th of June.

  • A documentation scheme for the exception from tests and the use of the corona passport will be implemented.


11th of June

  • The opening hours of restaurants, bars, cafés etc. will be extended from 22 until 24, and it will also be allowed to sell alcohol until 24. This is also in effect for the retail sector (supermarkets etc.).


14th of June

  • The requirement of the use of facemasks and visors will be removed in all areas except for people standing up in public transport.

  • The corona passport will no longer be necessary for the places with the least risk of infection. These are places such as libraries, free time and associational activities (although not sports activities!) and evening schools.

  • Daycare, elementary school, after-school institutions, adult education etc. etc. will be allowed to return to normal, but the current encouragement to get tested twice a week in these places will continue until and including September, with the exception of those who have been vaccinated or previously infected.


1st of July

  • A PCR test will be valid for 96 hours (four days) instead of 72 hours (three days).

  • The indoor assembly limit will be raised from 50 to 250 people.

  • Requirements on space and recommendations on distance will be removed for restaurants, bars, cafés etc. where the guests are "as a general rule" sitting down


15th of July

  • The opening hours for restaurants, bars, cafés etc. will be extended from 24 until 02 in the morning.

  • The ban on the sale of alcohol will be further eased.


1st of August

  • The mandatory use of the corona passport will be removed for:

- Events with fewer than 2.000 people

- Venues, theatres and cinemas with fewer than 500 in the audience

- Museums

- Amusement parks

- Zoos

- Indoor sport activities

- Markets

- Fairs and animal shows

- Conferences and meetings

- Outdoor sports events such as football matches

- Outdoor exercising events

- Fitness centres will have to do daily sample checks of the corona passport

  • The requirements on distance and division into sections for larger outdoor events with sitting audiences will be removed if there are fixed spots and registration of the participants.


1st of September

  • The mandatory use of the corona passport will be removed for:

- Restaurants, bars, cafés etc.

- Fitness centres

- Outdoor and standing events, including festivals

- Summer camps, scout camps and competitions

- Indoor events with a sitting audience

- Playlands and bathlands

- Liberal businesses with close contact (hairdressers, massage parlours etc.)

  • The nightlife (discos, night clubs etc.) will be reopened but with the mandatory use of the corona passport.

  • The use of facemasks and visors in public transport will be removed completely.

  • Restrictions for opening hours as well as when you're allowed to sell and serve alcohol will be removed completely.

  • All requirements on space, signs, arrangement of rooms and the accessibility of hand sanitiser will be removed completely.


1st of October

  • The mandatory use of the corona passport will be removed for the nightlife as well as outdoor events with more than 2.000 people in a sitting audience, as well as indoor events in general.

  • The recommendations on two weekly tests in daycare, elementary school, after-school institutions, adult education etc. will be removed.
