I apologize for this very long post, and that it comes so late today.


There has been held three press conferences today, and then there's some other news, that might be relevant to some of you, at the bottom.

SUMMARY FROM PRESS CONFERENCE IN COPENHAGEN AIRPORT WITH THE MINISTER OF EMPLOYMENT AND COPENHAGEN AIRPORT (8:00 - 8:25)


PRESENT

  • Minister of employment – Peter Hummelgaard

  • Administrative Director of Copenhagen Airport – Thomas Woldbye

  • Trade union representative – Peter Vium


BRIEF

  • Copenhagen Airport will for now be able to get through the crisis without firing the staff by using the salary compensation-package.

  • Small companies are encouraged to find solutions and use this package instead of firing their staff.

  • The airport cannot guarantee, that firings in the airport cannot happen at some point. But for now, the salary compensation will be enough.

SUMMARY FROM SHARED PRESS CONFERENCE WITH SEVERAL OFFICIAL AUTHORITIES (14:00 – 15:05)

PRESENT

  • Minister of Health and the Elderly – Magnus Heunicke

  • Chairman of the Regional Councils – Stephanie Lose

  • Director of the Danish Health Authorities – Søren Brostrøm

  • Director of Communication in the National Police – Anders Frandsen

  • Director for the Danish Medicines Agency – Thomas Senderovitz


HEALTH

  • 1591 has been tested positive, 141 more than yesterday.

  • 301 has been hospitalized, 47 more than yesterday.

  • 69 of those are in intensive care, 14 more than yesterday.

  • 58 of those in intensive care are plugged to respirators, 11 more than yesterday.

  • 32 confirmed cases of deaths, 8 more than yesterday.

  • The median age of people who have died with the Coronavirus in their bodies is 77.

  • We’re still in shortage of protection equipment and test kits.

  • The Danish Medicines Agency is investigating ways to produce protection equipment in Denmark. So far, Novo will produce hand sanitizer, LEGO has signed up for the initiate, as well as Grundfos, as well as around 500 other approaches.

  • A chatbot has been developed in the Copenhagen Region, where citizens can chat with the bot, and then it will estimate whether to stay home, call one’s own practitioner, the emergency number or the evaluation line (1813).

  • The Danish Health Authorities will attempt to publish an updated prognosis for the development of the Coronavirus in Denmark every Monday.

  • The Danish Health Authorities will focus on mental health in the upcoming period, to promote a healthier mental condition for us all in these times.

  • A regional travel ban may become a possibility eventually if we see a very huge geographical difference in the infection pressure in Denmark.


POLICE MATTERS

  • There have been 65 charges against people violating the ban on gathering more than 10 people in public spaces.



SUMMARY FROM PRESS CONFERENCE WITH THE DANISH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS (MFA) (15:15 – 15:50)

PRESENT

  • Minister of Foreign Affairs – Jeppe Kofod

  • Leader of the Corona task force at the Foreign Ministry’s Citizen service – Ib Petersen


BRIEF

  • 1423 Danes abroad are currently in the MFA’s crisis database

  • 242 Danes are stranded in the Philippines. The MFA is working on arranging a special plane, which will hopefully leave from Manilla and Cebu in the weekend.

  • 248 Danes are stranded in Peru. The MFA is also working on arranging a special plane here, and the same are other European countries. It is, however, proving very difficult. The Peruvian authorities are difficult to cooperate with.

  • A new task force has been created for Danes in Africa. Danes in Africa must contact the MFA, to arrange their travel home.

  • Danes must attempt to get home on their own if possible, and not just await special planes. They also have to pay for their ticket on these planes. The price will be the standard price for a seat on a filled plane, and any difference will then be paid by the MFA.

OTHER NEWS

  • It is no longer possible to report citizens whom you might suspect to have Corona, and who shows worrying behaviour!

  • Private hospitals must shut down for surgeries requiring anaesthetic equipment and respirators from the 28th of March.

  • Private hospitals must make their anaesthetic machines and respirators available for the public health system from the 30th of March.

  • The application for a visa to Denmark has been shut down until the 13th of April.

  • Fætter BR shuts down temporarily due to the crisis.

  • All driving schools must stop the teaching taking place in their cars since it is not possible to keep enough distance between the student and the teacher.
