Summary, 05.06.2020 - The limit on public assembly will likely be raised from 10 to 50, then 100/200

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for all the support you have given me. I truly appreciate it, and I am overwhelmed by the love and appreciation you guys are 'throwing' at me. Thank you! In light of the recent developments, where fewer announcements and 'relevant' stuff is happening, I have decided to allow myself to relax a bit more at the weekends.

As a result, there will be one summary for the weekend (Saturday + Sunday), which will be published Monday morning. This way I can relax a bit Saturday and some of Sunday, and then just keep an eye on the live-trackers and general developments. Depending on how things develop throughout the summer I may make more days where I don't update, and instead 'group them together', but we will see about that. As long as it makes sense, I make daily summaries :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sincerely, Nicki.

TODAY'S BULLETS

  1. The government has proposed its plan regarding the easing of the ban on public assembly to the other party leaders. These are therefore not the final specifications yet. The party leaders will meet during the weekend to discuss the next steps. The plan involves three stages, from which the limit will gradually be raised from 10 to a maximum of 200 people. I will include the final results on Monday.

These are therefore not the final specifications yet. The party leaders will meet during the weekend to discuss the next steps. The plan involves three stages:

- Stage 1: The ban on public assembly is raised from 10 to 50 people, with the exceptions of events where the participants are sitting down, such as a wedding in restaurants, a football match, and a general assembly held in a conference centre, where up towards 500 people can meet – if respecting the general guidelines.

- Stage 2: The limit is raised to 100 people.

- Stage 3: The limit is raised to a maximum of 200 people for some organisers. For the remaining events, it will still be 100 people.

  • The government has extended the salary compensation scheme from the 8th of July to the 29th of August, from when it will no longer be extended, with the exceptions of companies that are forced to remain closed. The employees who are sent home must take three weeks of vacation, where the company cannot receive compensation. The cost of the extension will be 2.2 billion kroner, and so far has 234.000 salary receivers from 29.500 companies been part of the scheme.

  • The EU wants to have free mobility within the Schengen-area no later than the end of June. This was the announcement by the EU’s commissioner for Internal affairs, Ylva Johannson: “I expect personally, that we return to a fully functional Schengen-area with free mobility for the citizens, latest at the end of June.” This comes after a video-meeting today with the EU’s Ministers of Justice and Internal Affairs.

  • The Mayor of Ringkøbing-Skjern is giving out Danish citizenships, by using the handshake. This happens despite that the Danish Health Authority advises everyone to not shake hands. Both the Mayor and the citizens use hand sanitizer before and after the handshake. “It is a big and happy day, which I have looked forward to for a long time. Now it has finally happened,” says Jana Jørgensen, who celebrated the day with her husband and their three sons.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • SAS is reopening another 20 routes, from which 16 are from Copenhagen. The airline will start flying from Copenhagen to Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, München, Brussels, Malaga, Mallorca, Athens, Faroese Islands, Hamburg, Milano, Palanga, Reykjavik, Stuttgart, Trondheim, Vilnius, Split and Nice. • Far more Norwegians want to go to Denmark this summer, compared to last year, according to the passenger shipping companies Color Line and Fjord Line. Apparently, the Norwegians had been saving up money for their vacations. “The moment where Prime Minister Erna Solberg (Norwegian Prime Minister, ed.) announced that people could again travel to Denmark, it was as if the dam burst,” says the head of concern for Fjord Line. Color Line has experienced a record of bookings: “There’s far more who wants to go to Denmark now than at the same time as last year,” says the head of corncern for communication and contact with society, Helge Otto Mathiesen.

  • There has been no significant increase in the amount of bankruptcies during the corona-crisis, according to Statistics Denmark. In May there was 197 bankruptcies when adjusted for normal seasonal conjunctures, which is 1 % fewer than in April. These bankruptcies lead to the loss of 894 lost fulltime jobs, which is 59 % fewer than in April. Similarly, there has been 12 % fewer bankruptcies in the period March-May 2020, compared to December 2019-February 2020, but the loss of jobs was 69 % higher. Statistics Denmark underlines though, that the number of bankruptcies must be read with some cautiousness, as a large pile of cases has been built up, since the courts have been closed during the corona-outbreak, and just recently reopened.
