Summary, 16.05.2020 - The PM doesn't see another huge shutdown of Denmark in case of a second wave.

TODAY'S BULLETS

  1. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen does not see a need for another shutdown of Denmark in the fall, in case of a second wave of covid-19. However, a geographical shutdown might be a solution if the infection blows up again.

  2. The goal is to test up towards 10.000 per day in the famous white tents around the country, apart from the tests done at the hospitals. But this has been far from the case, and now do Dansk Folkeparti, Venstre and Enhedslisten want answers from the Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke.

  3. The University Hospital of Aalborg has closed their intensive ward for corona-infected, due to very few patients.

  4. The Italian authorities have accepted a Danish offer on 13 respirators of the model Servo-i from Region Syddanmark. The respirators are of a newer date than the ones that were originally offered to Italy in April, which the Italian authorities kindly rejected.

  5. In the first 41 days after Denmark was shut down, it was not a requirement that all residents and employees at retirement homes, where infection with coronavirus had been confirmed, were tested. A new poll made by Berlingske shows, however, that at least 13 municipalities have confirmed healthy infection-carriers at retirement homes, and at least 80 residents and employees have been such healthy infection-carriers.

  6. Freetown Christiana reopened today after having been shut down for 9 weeks, which is the longest period the Freetown has been closed for guests.

From the period of the 7th-13th of May, there was on average tested 1.944 people in the tents. “This development goes contrary to what has been announced, and it is difficult to track infection chains in society when the number of conducted tests is that low,” says the political spokesman on health for Venstre, Martin Geertsen.
