Summary, 20.05.2020 - Phase 2 has been expanded. Zoos, cinemas and museums etc. can open immediately

TODAY'S BULLETS

  1. The government and the parties of the Parliament have agreed, in unity, to expand phase 2 of the reopening of Denmark.

  2. Museums, theatres, cinemas, zoos, outdoor amusement parks and language schools are some of the things that can reopen immediately.

  3. The Danish border control is eased, and the list of "worthy purposes" is expanded, which means that owners of summerhouses from Germany and the Nordic countries can visit Denmark from the 25th of May. Similarly, the list will now also include boy/girlfriends, fiancées, grandparents etc of all nationalities, who are permanently living in Germany or any of the Nordic countries. Business people/travels will also get on the list of worthy purposes.

  4. The Danish borders will still remain closed for non-worthy purposes, but further announcements will come no later than the 29th of May. The assembly ban of 10 people is also currently maintained, but will "gradually be eased during the summer" if the numbers so allow. The plan is currently that this number will be raised to 30-50 people from the 8th of June. A plan for how to hold weddings, confirmations etc. will be presented when phase three begins, which is the 9th of June.

  5. Night clubs and venues, fitness centres and indoor sport, waterparks and indoor playlands cannot reopen yet, and the same with higher educations that haven't already reopened. Here, home teaching will continue until phase 4.

  6. A broad majority in the Parliament has agreed to an agreement that includes faster pay-out on the compensation scheme for fixed expenditures. Furthermore, the effort against fraud with the compensation schemes will be strengthened with a whistleblower line.

THE CONTENT OF THE EXPANSION OF PHASE 2

  • The government and the parties of the Parliament have agreed, in unity, to expand phase 2 of the reopening of Denmark.

  • The negotiations were ongoing from 12:30 until around 23:30 and were conducted on the basis of a report from the SSI, that showed that the amount of hospitalised the 1st of June will be relatively low, despite phase 2. Therefore there was room to expand the phase, said the Prime Minister.

  • A crucial requirement for this expansion is that we maintain our good habits of social distance, proper hygiene etc., in order to avoid a violent increase in infection going into the summer.

  • Museums, theatres, art galleries, cinemas

  • The Danish border control is eased, and the list of "worthy purposes" is expanded, which means that owners of summerhouses from Germany and the Nordic countries can visit Denmark from the 25th of May.

  • Similarly, the list will now also include boy/girlfriends, fiancées, grandparents etc. of all nationalities, who are permanently living in Germany or any of the Nordic countries.

  • Business people/travels will also get on the list of worthy purposes.

  • The Danish borders. The government has informed that it will announce something no later than the 29th of May, but the aforementioned eases will enter into effect from the 25th of May.

  • The assembly ban of 10 people is currently maintained, but will "gradually be eased during the summer" if the numbers so allow. The plan is currently that this number will be raised to 30-50 people from the 8th of June. A plan for how to hold weddings, confirmations etc. will be presented when phase three begins, which is the 9th of June.

POLITICS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The new report from the SSI that made the basis for today's political negotiations says that if the Danes keep respecting the requirements on social distance and hygiene, it is possible to go immediately to phase 3 of the reopening without overloading the hospitals. “By maintaining social distance and respecting the guidelines on hygiene will the load for both the decided upon second phase of the reopening together with the third phase as well as the expanded third phase not surpass the level that has so far been seen in region Hovedstaden and Region Sjælland,” it says.

  • In the new report from the SSI, they also point out that a reopening of the borders can lead to infected people entering the country, and thereby being able to start new infection chains, that can have an influence on the infection pressure in Denmark. “It can also mean that more people will come to holiday areas, and this will give an increased risk that existing infection can be spread,” is one of the key points in the report.

  • A broad majority in the Parliament has agreed to an agreement that includes faster pay-out on the compensation scheme for fixed expenditures. Furthermore, the effort against fraud with the compensation schemes will be strengthened with a whistleblower line.
