GENERAL/ECONOMICS

  • We are all doing a great effort and must continue to do so. The bond between the population, the government, the authorities and the welfare society is strong!

  • The partial shutdown of Denmark will continue until the 13th of April.

  • That includes among other things schools, daycares, universities, restaurants, bars, cafés etc.

  • Public servants must continue working from home, if possible.

  • Some public servants may be out of work. These might be transferred to other positions and job descriptions with a larger need.

  • Those public servants who cannot be transferred to other positions or work from home are encouraged to use their vacation days.

  • The government encourages people to not travel abroad or around in Denmark during Easter (or in general). That includes not going to one’s summerhouse or recreational house.

  • A new reality will await all of us, once this crisis is over. The welfare level we are accustomed to will take a hit.

  • We will still have to pay for daycare offers, even if they are not used.

  • Banks will be allowed to ease the rules for giving loans and credit.

  • Please don’t fire your staff. Send them home instead and use the help packages that you can apply for!

HEALTH

  • 110 new respirators have been procured, from 950 to 1060.

  • 14.000 new test kits are on the way to Denmark, expected to arrive this week.

  • Denmark has received 50.000 new masks for the healthcare staff.

  • The epidemic is expected to peak in four weeks.

  • There will be an increase in the amount of hospitalized, those in respirators, and of deaths.

  • The new test strategy announced yesterday is facing supply difficulties but will be attempted to be implemented nationally, regionally and locally.

  • The municipalities are looking into possible solutions, where hospitalized patients for other diseases than COVID-19 can possibly be sent home, to recover there, to free space for COVID-19-patients.

  • The entire world is facing a shortage of test kits and protection equipment. That is also the case in Denmark.

  • Health care personnel must still show symptoms, before being tested for COVID-19. And the referral must be medically evaluated by one’s own doctor (through phone!)

  • The Minister of Health and the Elderly apologized that the Danish health authorities hadn’t accepted the offer from South Korea to buy a substantially large amount of test kits. The offer can still be utilized, says the South Korean officials.
