Summary, 25.05.2020 - Sweethearts can soon enter Denmark based on a statement of truth.

TODAY'S BULLETS

  1. The Minister of Justice, Nick Hækkerup, clarified today that it will soon be enough with a written statement of truth testifying that a couple has been together for at least six months. It will take a few days before this change enters into effect since it needs to become actual guidelines first.

  2. The government has decided to ease access for business travellers in and out of Denmark to specifically chosen export areas (not specified yet), due to Danish companies losing orders and market shares when the companies cannot make business travels out of Denmark. Business travels into Denmark will now specifically be mentioned as "worthy purposes", as long as they are a requirement, and cannot be done through e.g. Skype or at another time, and foreigners entering must name a contact person that can confirm the information given.

  3. A new spit-based covid-19 test will be ready in mid-June and will be able to give an answer within one hour, and will have the name EasyCov.

  4. Large medicinal companies refused an EU-proposal three years ago to initiate the work with vaccines against pathogens like coronavirus, so a vaccine could be developed ahead of a possible epidemic.

  5. SAS resumes activity on the route between Aarhus and Copenhagen from Tuesday the 2nd of June.

POLITICS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The Minister of Justice, Nick Hækkerup, clarified today that it will soon be enough with a written statement of truth testifying that a couple has been together for at least six months. It will take a few days before this change enters into effect since it needs to become actual guidelines first. This new initiative comes after criticism from several parties, most heavily De Radikale and Socialistisk Folkeparti, that the need to show pictures and other private material is too far-reaching. The Minister's response was: "Even though the other parties are in opposition, they may still say some sensible things sometimes - and I always listen to the other parties." Whether the requirement of six months will continue to be a requirement once the new guidelines come out hasn't been specified as of now.

  • The government has decided to ease access for business travellers in and out of Denmark to specifically chosen export areas (not specified yet), due to Danish companies losing orders and market shares when the companies cannot make business travels out of Denmark. Business travels into Denmark will now specifically be mentioned as "worthy purposes", as long as they are a requirement, and cannot be done through e.g. Skype or at another time, and foreigners entering must name a contact person that can confirm the information given. Furthermore, says the government, is it “crucial that Danish companies have access to entering partners and investors from abroad.” The government, therefore, offers business travellers who have to travel to countries that require documentation for a negative covid-19-test to have done a test before the departure, as well as a certificate for this, and a test after the journey, in order to avoid the optional (but encouraged) two-weeks quarantine when re-entering.

  • The Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs presented today a series of initiatives that must help companies restore their export during the corona-crisis. 225 million kroner was allocated to increase the efforts for promoting export and investments this year and next year the 18th of April by all the parties in the Parliament. More information can be found here.

- A special support-unit will actively seek out more than 1.000 Danish companies that are influenced by the lack of export.

- The ministry will offer free emergency guidance and assistance to Danish companies that are experiencing issues with tariffs as well as the free movement of goods and people due to the corona-situation.

- The prices for other kinds of export guidance by the ministry will be reduced with 50 %, and 75 % for small and medium-sized companies.

  • Three places in Odense has been given fines of at least 3.000 kroner in the weekend for not having closed at midnight, says Funen police.

The test will have the name EasyCov and will be conducted by professionals who will take one millimetre of spit from underneath the patient’s tongue.

  • Large medicinal companies refused an EU-proposal three years ago to initiate the work with vaccines against pathogens like coronavirus, so a vaccine could be developed ahead of a possible epidemic. The proposal was put forward by representatives from the European Commission’s Innovative Medicines Initiative, which is a public-private partnership with the purpose of supporting groundbreaking research in the EU. But the idea was rejected by representatives from the medicinal industry in the partnership.
